About Stockholm

Stockholm is the economic, cultural, media and political center of Scandinavia and the capital of Sweden. Generally speaking, the city has twenty percent of the population of the entire country. There are four islands within the city limits, and it also has a channel where Lake Malaren meets the sea. Stockholm Airports

Stockholm Arlanda Airport (IATA: ARN) is an international airport located in the municipality of Sigtuna, Sweden, near the town of Märsta, 37 kilometers north of Stockholm and 40 kilometers southeast of Uppsala.

The airport is located in the territory of Stockholm County and the state of Upland. It is Sweden's largest airport and serves as the main gateway for international passengers to much of Sweden. Arlanda Airport hosted nearly 22.5 million passengers in 2014, 17 million of which were international passengers and 5 million were domestic passengers. In 2015, Stockholm Arlanda Airport's passenger numbers increased by 30 percent compared to the previous five years, which is the highest growth figure among European airports.

Land Transportation

Railway

The fastest transportation from the airport to Stockholm Central Station is provided by the Arlanda Express high-speed train service and the journey time is 20 minutes.

It is also possible to use the Stockholm suburban railway service (Pendeltåg) between Uppsala C and the center and south of Stockholm. With this route, it takes 38 minutes between Arlanda C station and Stockholm C. The fare from Arlanda is higher when shortened with other suburban lines.

Bus

Flygbussarna, Swebus and SL operate buses in some locations in northern Stockholm County, stopping at Stockholm city center and Stockholm Central Station. There are also local bus line 583 to Märsta, and from there there are commuter trains to Stockholm and the surrounding areas. This is the cheapest way to travel to and from Stockholm.

Path

Highway E4 passes through the airport and connects Arlanda with central Stockholm and further north with Uppsala and other cities. There are short and long-term parking spaces at the airport and in the terminals. To get to the cheap and long-term car park, you need to take the free shuttle bus. The bus leaves every 8-15 minutes. There are also car rental facilities at the airport.

Taxi

All taxi companies are required to offer a fixed fee for trips from the airport, which eliminates the problem of how much the destination will cost (passengers can also request that the taxi meter be turned on). Important companies also provide fixed-fee transportation to the airport.

Attention please! In Sweden, taxi fares are not regulated nowadays, which means taxis may charge according to the fare list attached to the side window. However, airport taxis are not allowed to charge more than 675kr to Uppsala or areas further north of Stockholm.
