Dallas Airports

Dallas/Fort Worth International Airport

Dallas/Fort Worth International Airport (IATA: DFW) is the main international airport serving the Dallas–Fort Worth region of Texas, USA. The airport is the largest hub for American Airlines and its headquarters are also located near the airport. In 2015, DFW served a record 64,174,163 passengers.

According to 2015 data, this airport was the third busiest airport in the world according to aircraft movement and the tenth busiest airport in the world according to the number of passengers. It is also the busiest airport in the state of Texas, both by number of passengers and aircraft movement (takeoff and landing). DFW is the tenth busiest airport in the United States by international flights and the second busiest in Texas (after George Bush International Airport). The airport, which operates approximately 900 flights daily, is also home to American Airlines' second largest base in the world and the United States, larger only by Delta's Atlanta hub.

In October 2014, DFW Airport served 207 destinations, including 58 international and 149 domestic destinations within the United States.

Transport

Inside the Airport

The people-carrying system called Skylink was opened on May 21, 2005 and is the world's largest high-speed airport train system. Fully automatic, Skylink trains depart every two minutes and travel at a speed of 56 km/h. While Skylink has dual rails, it allows bilateral movement. The Skylink system provided by Bombardier Transportation connects all terminals in the safe zone to each other.

Getting to and from the Airport

The Trinity Railway Express commuter line to DFW operates from the CentrePort/DFW Airport Station south of the airport. The line offers transportation to both downtown Dallas and Fort Worth.

Dallas Area Rapid Transit offers bus service from the Remote South Parking building to Downtown Irving/Heritage Crossing Station and Southwestern Medical District/Parkland Station on route 408. Additionally, from the south via Route 500, Terminal A connects directly to the Orange Line from CentrePort/DFW Airport Station and the existing last stop, Belt Line Station, to the east.

On August 18, 2014, DART opened the DFW Airport Station between Terminals A and B. It provides direct rail service to Dallas and Las Colinas on the Orange Line (which will then extend to DFW North Station). These stations, which are under development by the Fort Worth Transportation Authority and DART Cotton Belt Rail Line, will be important stations of TEX Rail in the future.

Nearby Highways

Transportation to the DFW Airport Area is via the International Parkway (partially part of the State Highway 97 Spur). This road passes through the airport and connects the Airport Freeway (State Highway 183) and the John W. Carpenter Freeway (State Highway 114) in the south of the airport. The International Parkway continues north to State Highway 114 and State Highway 121. It then briefly intersects with the Lyndon B. Johnson Freeway (I-635) until it reaches the Sam Rayburn Tollway, but State Highway 121 continues north. If you continue north on the International Parkway, you can easily reach IH 35 E.
