Oslo Airports

Oslo Airport, Gardermoen

Oslo Airport (IATA: OSL) is the main international airport serving Norway's most populous city and capital, Oslo. Oslo also has two low-cost airports, Torp and Rygge. Oslo Airport, Norway's main domestic and international airport, is also the second busiest airport in the Scandinavian countries. The airport, which is the headquarters of Scandinavian Airlines, the operational base of Norwegian Air Shuttle and the focus city of Widerøe, provides connections to 28 domestic routes and 115 international destinations. Approximately 24.7 million passengers traveled through the airport in 2015, making it the nineteenth busiest airport in Europe.

The airport is located in Gardermoen, municipality of Ullensaker, Akershus province, 19 nautical miles (35 km, 22 mi) northeast of Oslo. The airport, which has two parallel and roughly north and south runways, one 3,600 meters and the other 2,950 meters, has 71 aircraft parking spaces and 34 of them have jet bridges. The airport is connected to the city by the high-speed railway Gardermoen Line, which is mostly served by trains and Flytoget. It has the world's highest rate of going to and from the airport by public transportation, at 70 percent.

Land Transportation

Oslo Airport, which is 47 kilometers away from the city center, offers public transportation services. It is the airport with the highest rate of public transportation use in the world, with 70 percent.

The 64-kilometer Gardermoen Line, which opened on the same day as the airport, operates from the tunnel passing under the airport and is located under Gardermoen Station and the terminal. Flytoget airport express trains depart six times an hour towards Oslo Central Station and the journey takes 19-22 minutes. Three of these continue towards Drammen Station, stopping at five stations in between. (The frequency on Saturdays and Sundays is three times an hour.) It covers 34 percent of the Airport Express Train's land transportation.

Norwegian State Railways (NSB) also operates a service at the airport, both a suburban service to Eidsvoll and Kongsberg, as well as regional services north to Oppland and Hedmark and south to Vestfold. Both of them provide transportation to Olso and then directly to Torp, Sandefjord Airport. Five trains to Trondheim stop at the airport every day, one of which is a night train.

Additionally, the Oslo Airport Express Bus provides transportation to the airport from Oslo, Fredrikstad, Ski and Gjøvik. In addition, most direct buses from other parts of Norway also stop at the airport. The local transportation agency Ruter also provides transportation to Oslo Airport from nearby places.

Taxi

There are several companies providing service from Oslo Airport. To see taxi fares, companies and make reservations, passengers must go to the information desk in the Arrivals Hall. Taxi stands are at the exit of the airport arrivals hall.
