Transportation Between Terminals

Ring buses between terminals provide frequent transfer opportunities to passengers. However, passengers who transfer and use ring buses must then go through security checks again. The underground tunnel provides the connection between terminals 4, 5, 6, 7 and 8, and the aboveground connection between TBIT and terminal 4 was opened in February 2016.

Highways and Roads

LAX's terminals are located just west of the intersection of Century Boulevard and Sepulveda Boulevard (State Route 1). The 405 Freeway is accessible via Century Boulevard, and the 105 Freeway is also accessible via Sepulveda Boulevard.

Bus

The closest bus stops to the terminals are at Sepulveda and Century boulevards, served by Metro 117, Torrance 8, Metro 232, Commuter Express 574, and Metro 40 to Los Angeles Union Station.

FlyAway Bus

FlyAway Bus is operated by LAWA and provides non-stop line bus service between LAX and Central Los Angeles, San Fernando Valley (Van Nuys), West Los Angeles (Westwood), Hollywood and Santa Monica. IrvineFlyAway closed on August 31, 2012. This line buses stop at every terminal. Service hours vary depending on the line. All lines use the local High Occupancy Vehicle system lane to speed up travel. Los Angeles Union Station service and Metro Local's night line 40 are the only direct transportation connecting Los Angeles Center and the airport.

Subway line

Ring bus “G” provides a free connection to the Aviation/LAX station on the Los Angeles Metro Rail's Green Line. This line was originally planned to connect directly to the terminal, but budget cuts and opposition from local taxi and parking lot owners prevailed and it was not built.

Taxi and Private Vehicles

The taxis are operated by nine authorized companies and include Authorized Taxicab Supervision Inc. It is also issued by (ATS). ATS also operates the 96th Street Bridge, which is the taxi stop. In this area, at the busiest time of the day, hundreds of taxis line up to take passengers to the terminal. Additionally, several private companies offer limousine and bus services for transportation to LAX airport.
