Sevastopol , known as Akyar in the Ottoman Empire, is a coastal city on the Crimean peninsula of Ukraine. The port, which has strategic importance due to its special location, was used as a naval base of the Soviet Union in the past. Today, it is used by Ukraine and Russia. The city, also known as a sea resort, is an important holiday center. The city is connected to Russia and the majority of the population consists of Russians. Among the places that can be visited and seen, there is a giant bell dating back to the ancient Greek colony and it is the center of attention of tourists. In addition, sections such as the archaeological area, Panorama museum, Malakhov region and the Eagle Monument are among the touristic places that can be visited in the city.
