London Zoo is perhaps the most famous zoo in the whole world. Built by Victorian gentlemen with names like Sir Stamford Raffles and Decimus Burton, it's been an important part of London life for almost 200 years. With these ZSL London Zoo tickets, you'll be able to take in over 750 species of animals while walking through its historic buildings and grounds.
ZSL London Zoo has undergone a transformation in the past few years. Far from its Victorian-era 'animal park' origins, it's now a conservation-minded institution that puts animals and education first.
Charismatic lowland gorillas, prehistoric Komodo dragons, massive Galapagos turtles, and mighty lions and tigers... all the big-ticket creatures are on display here. But that's not all, the Reptile House, Butterfly Paradise, Penguin Beach, and more will round out your day with plenty of animal sightings.
If the In With The Spiders exhibit creeps you out, visit the two pygmy hippos instead. Everyone agrees that Thug and Nicky are delightful. And speaking of delightful, don't miss the Animal Adventure zone, where young visitors can learn about llamas, meerkats, and more – as well as spend some quality time in the play area!
Fascinated by big cats? Then make sure you head to Land of the Lions to see the Asiatic lions. There's only 400 of these amazing creatures left in the wild. There's also the chance to see Sumatran tigers in Tiger Territory, find out more about the conservation issues they face in the wild, and be astonished by one of nature's most fierce predators.
Go from big to small with a visit to Tiny Giants. This exhibit celebrates the little things in life – invertebrates! If the idea of a missing skeleton makes your skin crawl, then there's nothing more reassuring than an exoskeleton… Head to the Giants of the Galápagos and step inside a custom-made climate that recreates the environment of the Galápagos Archipelago. You'll be amazed at the size of these reptiles who can live for over a century.
Before you go, make sure to pop in to see London Zoo's colony of Humboldt penguins. You'll love seeing them dive, swim, frolic, and feed in England's largest penguin pool, complete with large underwater viewing windows.
